Making a Difference
The love of Jesus in our world
We are partnering with Children’s Hopechest in Guatemala to serve the village of Pueblo Modelo in Zacapa. We’re partnering by sponsoring children in that community and helping an indigenous ministry called Servant’s Heart. The ultimate goal is to be a part of God transforming this whole community. To see why we are in Guatemala, what God is up to in Pueblo Modelo through Servant’s Heart and see the kids will be sponsoring click here.

Immanuel’s Community Garden, “The Gathering Place” provides food for people in need within the Macomb community. If you feel led to help feed those families who would like fresh vegetables on their table this summer, please contact Paula Parent in the church office.
Partnering to make a difference
The people of Kenya and their communities are our partners in this work. We currently estimate that we will be working with more than 6,000 farmers and their families throughout the life of this project, totaling more than 30,000 people. These families are not simply recipients of our charity but participants with us in this important work of strengthening their communities.
We are working with other LCMS congregations throughout the United States to make this project a reality. LWR is partnering with large congregations like ours in this innovative approach to putting faith into action around the world. Throughout this process we will learn from one another and celebrate with each other as fellow Lutherans and sisters and brothers in Christ!
Our congregation will also be working with our partners in Jesus to Everyone, Everywhere, Everyday (J2e3) to support the spiritual needs of these communities.

Every 4th Wednesday a group goes to Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries. The group preps food and serves lunch from 50-100 homeless men. If you are interested in serving or want more information email Karen Reincke.
This annual tradition at Immanuel is a blessing for families in our area as we share food, presents, and Christmas cheer, all in the love of Jesus. This past year alone we blessed over 120 kids along with 40 families. If you would like more information on how to get involved please contact Karen Reincke.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[a] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16Everyone wants to make a difference in the world and the lives of people around us. We make differences by what we do for others. They may never know our names, or faces, but through our generosity of time, talents and treasures, they will know Jesus. If you’d like to get involved and find out more about how you can impact lives please contact Pastor Michael.
