-Immanuel Prayer Vigil-
From Luke 18: 1 Then Jesus told his disciples that why should always pray and not give up. To someone who prays in Faith, currently unanswered prayers are simply the evidence that the answer is “much closer”. Lord, help us to pray and keep praying “til practice makes perfect” til the end.
From I Chronicles 17 23-24 Do as you promised….that your name will be great forever.
Every promise of Scripture is a letter from God, which we may plead before Him with a reasonable request: “Do as you promised”. Our Creator will never cheat those of us of His creation who depend on His truth. Simply pick a promise of God’s divine Word and then claim it. There should be no doubt or cloudiness about the request. Human promises often are worthless, but since the creation of the world, God has never broken a promise to His trusting children.
Lord, help us to trust in all of your promises when we pray and give us the confidence of faith that you “Do as you promised”
From Mark 10: 27 Jesus looked at them and said “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God”.
Lord, we are thankful that nothing is impossible for you. Help us to truly understand that prayer has mighty power to prepare hearts for the precious seed of truth to be planted. That Prayer has the strength to demolish the strongholds of the Enemy that holds the sinner captive. Lord, help all to know that prayer has the potential to speak to the mountains of unbelief and cast it into the sea.
Prayers for our History at Immanuel:
From Exodus 20: 21 Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.
Immanuel’s ancestors have gone through many trials. Yet, still the church remains, is strong in the Faith, And has a future.
Lord, please help us, as with our ancestors before us, to not fear the unknown, but be content to accept the things we cannot understand and to patiently wait. In due time, God will reveal the treasures of the unknown, the riches of His glory. We pray that we will not be afraid of any clouds of darkness, for God is in it.. The other side will be radiant with His Glory. Help us to understand that when we feel most forsaken and lonely, God is near. He is the darkest cloud. Lord help us to forge ahead like our predecessors without flinching, knowing that under the shelter of the cloud, God is waiting for us. Amen.
Prayers for Future of Immanuel
From Deuteronomy 11: 11-12 But the land you are crossing the Jordan to take possession of is land of mountains and valley that drinks rain from heaven. It is a land that the Lord your God cares for; the eyes of the Lord are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end.
We know Lord that we stand at the threshold of the unknown. A new year lies ahead and we will take possession of it. In spite of uncertainty, we pray Lord that you continually keep your eyes on our progress from beginning of the year to the end. We will have the mountains and valleys that you provide and we do need them. For the difficult valley times point us to the throne of Grace and the mountain times allow us to sing Your praises when we triumph. Father come near to us, take our hands and always lead our way. Amen
For the future of our Ministries:
From Ecclesiastes 7:13 Consider what God has done. Who can straighten what He has made crooked?
God often seems to place His children in places of deep difficulty, leading them into corners where they may assume there is no escape. There may be insurmountable changes and even ultimate divides, but the cloudiness of circumstance itself is used by God to guide us to the other side, to where He needs us to be. Lord, we pray that even though our ministries at present may be filled with uncertainty, allow us to understand that the situation is “perfectly right” for our time. We pray that the reasons behind the uncertainty will more than justify God who brought us through and in the end, the platform of ministries God allows, will display His almighty Grace and Power.
Prayers for Church Families:
From James 1: 2-3 Consider it pure joy that whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.
Lord, for every trial you allow narrow shafts of Your light to shine through. Nothing touches us without God knowing. We thank you Lord the you sympathize as no one else can, if we Dare to trust you completely. God grant to our families, that complete trust for anyone who prays for it. Allow your tiny shafts of light to penetrate the deepest trials of our families so that they can persevere and grow in their Faith. Amen.
Prayers for the Administration
From 1 Corinthians 16: 13 Be on your guard. Stand firm in the faith. By being courageous. Be strong. Do everything in Love.
Lord, there are many working behind the scenes. The very oil that makes the machine (church) run. Lord grant those in the administrative positions the perseverance to press on day after day. Give them the strength to greet each new day in love. Watch over them and help them to ward off any possible pitfalls that come up and the courage to face things “head-on”. Help them to stand firm and trust in their faith. Amen
Prayers for the Pastors:
From Isaiah 58 :14 I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land.
Lord, I know that when a bird flies for pleasure, it flies with the wind. But, I also know that if there is trouble it turns into the wind to gain altitude. It rides into the heights toward heaven.
I pray Lord for our Pastors, taking on the troubles of our church, they will ride to higher levels, toward the heavens. Help them to cleanse turbulent atmospheres as they come and rejoice in knowing their will be a purified new life within the Church as the World changes.
Prayers for Staff
From Romans 15: 13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace, as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Lord we have many tiers of helpers, the hierarchy from Pastors to cleaning crews. All are equal in the eyes of the Lord. We pray that each staff member to feel loved and protected as they support our church and school. Fill them with the Holy Spirit that they can confidently trust that they are never alone. Allow them to experience Joy and Peace daily and be able to pass it along to others. Amen.
Prayers for Teachers:
From John 15: 2 Every branch that does bear fruit is pruned so that it will be even more fruitful.
Our teachers are like gardeners in the vineyard. They tend to their students by pruning their minds with the Love of Jesus, to allow more knowledge to sprout and trimming their temptations with the power of the Holy Spirit. The gardener/teacher stops pruning and trimming only when they expect nothing during that season. Lord grant our teachers continued strength to cultivate their vineyard of believers. Give them the tools, both physical and spiritual to continue to prune and trim the hearts of their students. Keep our teachers safe and healthy that they may see their fruits, in abundance, at the end of the school year. Amen.
Luther’s Morning Prayer:
I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that you have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and my soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen
Luther’s Evening Prayer:
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day; and I pray that You would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass
against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
